How long should I spend in Rwanda?
There is no single right answer — it depends on what you want to see and how much travel pace you enjoy. These are practical ranges based on our existing journeys:
2–3 days. Fly into Kigali, trek gorillas in Volcanoes National Park, return. The 2-Day Gorilla Express is built for this.
5–7 days. Gorillas plus a second park — Akagera for wildlife or Nyungwe for primates. The 7-Day Primates Delight is a strong example.

Practical planning for U.S. travelers
Flights & arrival
U.S. travelers generally connect through international hubs (commonly in Europe or the Middle East) before reaching Kigali International Airport (KGL). Flight schedules and routes change — we help you understand current options as part of the planning conversation rather than publishing schedules that may be out of date.
Visa & entry
Entry requirements depend on your nationality and can change. Most U.S. passport holders are eligible for a visa on arrival or e-visa, but you should confirm current requirements through the official Rwanda Directorate General of Immigration and Emigration before traveling.
Currency & payments
The local currency is the Rwandan Franc (RWF), but USD is widely accepted for tourism services. Credit cards work in Kigali and at lodges; carry some cash for smaller purchases. We quote and invoice in USD so you have a clear, stable price.

Gorilla permits — what to understand
Permits are capacity-constrained. Rwanda issues a limited number of gorilla trekking permits each day. This is what protects the gorillas and keeps the experience exceptional — but it means permits can sell out, especially in peak travel months.
Agreeing on an itinerary does not itself secure a permit. A quotation describes the journey and its cost; the permit is only secured when it is confirmed and purchased.
We verify availability during the quotation process. Before you receive a final quotation, we check permit availability for your dates as part of our feasibility and availability gate. If your preferred dates are not available, we propose alternatives within your flexibility window.
