3. What cookies are
Cookies are small data records placed on or accessed from a device when a person visits a website. Related technologies include local browser storage, pixels, tags, session identifiers and similar storage or access mechanisms.
They may operate the site, maintain security, remember choices, support media, retain consent choices and improve performance.
4. Categories we use
Strictly necessary
Required for page delivery, security, forms, application functions and recording privacy choices. They cannot be disabled through our controls where the site cannot operate safely without them.
Preferences
Remember choices that improve website or planning-tool functionality. Optional preference technologies remain off unless selected.
Analytics
May help us understand aggregated page use, navigation, errors and performance. No optional analytics provider is currently enabled. If introduced, it will remain off until consent.
Embedded media
The homepage offers a YouTube video through the privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com domain. The YouTube frame is not loaded until embedded-media consent is given. Google or YouTube may then receive technical information and apply their own policies.
Externally hosted fonts
Google Fonts are used to provide the site's typography and are not self-hosted. When font resources are requested, Google may receive technical information such as IP address, browser details and request time. These resources are treated as functional website resources and are disclosed here.
Rafiki, Trip Planner and payments
Rafiki and Trip Planner may use essential application technologies when requested. Third-party payment services may use their own security, authentication and fraud-prevention technologies under their notices.
5. Current services
| Service | Purpose | Activation |
|---|---|---|
| Inland Africa / Base44 | Hosting, security and application operation | As required |
| Google Fonts | Typography | External functional resource |
| YouTube privacy-enhanced | Homepage video | After media consent |
| Rafiki / Trip Planner | Requested travel-planning tools | When used |
| Payment providers | Transactions and fraud prevention | When opened or used |
6. Consent and choices
Necessary technologies operate where required. Non-essential technologies based on consent stay disabled until a visitor makes a specific choice. Consent is not inferred from silence or continued browsing and may be withdrawn as easily as it was given.
7. Browser controls
Browsers may let visitors review, delete or block cookies. Blocking necessary technologies may prevent forms, Trip Planner or other functions from working correctly.
8. International processing
Some website, video, font, communications, technology and payment providers may process information outside Rwanda. We will take the steps required by Rwandan law, which may include authorization, safeguards, consent or another lawful transfer basis.
9. Retention
Session technologies normally expire when a browser session ends. Persistent technologies remain for a defined period or until deleted. Consent and security records may be retained as reasonably necessary. No identifier should be retained longer than its disclosed purpose requires.
10. Third parties and updates
Independent providers control aspects of their own processing, and visitors should review their notices. We may update this policy when technologies, providers or legal requirements change. A material consent change may require a new selection.
